How Thermal transfer works:

  • As the ribbon moves over the print head, resistive elements on the print head are heated, which cause ink to become molten
  • Once the ink is in a molted state, it releases from the polyester film carrier and transfer onto the receiver
  • The „spent“ ribbon separates from the receiver and is wound up on a take-up spindle
